do ho suh’s sculptures are architectural environments,
beautifully and meticulously crafted out of nylon fabric. Above you see the entrance of his NY apartment in original size and below the ‘gate’, it’s based on the former entrance to his family’s home in seoul.

Sum by BEILI LIU
“… From a distance, the piece follows the irregular contours of the gallery wall, whose idiosyncratic bulges and crevices call to mind a grotto. The work undercuts any rigid separation between figure and ground, a bit like a ritualistic cave painting…, More over, there is an intriguing disequilibrium between the more intimate and distant views in relation to Liu’s sculpture. When the spectator comes in close, he or she hits upon shapes that trigger idiosyncratic projections. Some of the conglomerations of plaster are crystalline, or brittle like fossils. Others are voluptuous like portions of the human body. As the viewer attends to such details, a sense of the whole is both jettisoned and strangely present in the encounter.” — Guggenheisman Guide, by Chris Bennett

Magic installations in public spaces by CORNELIA KONRADS
_
The work is based on the illusion of weightlessness – the installation is beginning to dissolve before your eyes. Just magic.
