STEVEN SPAZUK’s SMOKEY PAINTINGS.
Interested by perfect shades and gradations of airbrush in the 80’s, he asked himself, what would happen if he exposed a canvas to fire and control the imprint of soot left on the surface? “That is where art is at it’s best. When it comes from your guts. Seredipity and spontaneity, that is what is interesting to me.” After working with soot on smaller pieces he extends his canvas in other dimensions:
”But what is fantastic about all of this is that with 272 pieces, a painting of around 2 x 3 meters, it all fits in one shoebox!”
